Aluminum Process Metallurgist

The Metallurgy Department has an opening for an experienced metallurgist with technical skills and responsibilities associated with Aluminum forging aspects. This position will be responsible for all technical issues related to forging, heat treating, quality assurance, product development, and process improvement efforts related to our aluminum forging applications in addition to other alloy groups. Applicants must have 5 years experience in Aluminum forging applications with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science as a minimum (Masters Degree preferred). Casting application experience will also be considered. Daily activities would include: executing manufacturing procedures, interactions with customers, Research and Development projects, and use of Forge2005. Occasional travel to customers and between Scot Forge locations.

Corporate Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance department is currently seeking a Corporate Quality Assurance Manager with a college education in technical disipline completed (minimum 4 year Bachelor''s Degree). Knowledge of the concepts of the heavy metal forming and machining industry (7 years or more). Demonstrated ability in applying math and statistical concepts to problem identification, root cause analysis, problem resolution and process improvement. Knowledge and understanding of computer concepts and software in dealing with quality information and reports, development of trend analysis and performance measurements. Knowledge of the concepts, implementation and management of a quality management system designed in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Six Sigma Black Belt is highly desired. The Corporate Quality Assurance Manager position is anticipated to progress into the Director of Quality as the company and the department expands.

Ability to create, update, and maintain routings, TDS, work instructions and blueprints to meet customer needs and use Engineering tools including application of Predetermined Methods and Time Systems. Experience or knowledge of supporting manufacturing in disciplined approaches to problem solving including fishbone, diagrams, 5s, and Six Sigma.

MIS System Support Administrator

The MIS department is seeking a Desktop Support Administrator with 5+ years in technical support of 200+ users in multiple facilities. The candidate must have the skills to lead the technical systems support team by planning, organizing, coordinating, setting standards, and maintaining a balanced team environment. This position is responsible to set goals and follow thru with the daily activities as well as projects of the systems support group. Develop and manage policies, procedures, and standards for server operations, desktop systems, networking, communications, peripheral equipment, disaster planning, budgeting, and security.
Requirements include extensive experience with software applications, hardware systems, project management, vendor relationships, service providers, personnel management, and training. Additional requirements include strong skills in a team environment, decision making and problem solving, interaction, and commitment to task.
The position requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment, travel to other facilities, and extended hours as needed. Additionally, the candidate will be required at times to be on call 24/7 for troubleshooting and user/system needs. Expected hours are 45-50 hours a week. Compensation will be comparable with skills and abilities.

Technical Inside Sales Representative

The Sales Department is looking for an energetic individual with strong selling and communication skills for managing current and prospective customers. The ability to work both alone and within a team environment is essential. This candidate would be accountable for executing functions to promote customer service and the sale of products. Daily responsibilities would include but would not be limited to: determine material requirements, material availability and manufacturing processes needed to complete quote or order by reviewing blueprints and specifications (ASTM, AMS, MIL- STD etc.) by utilizing computer system. You would apply pricing standards to determine costs. Work in conjunction with the Blacksmith, Quality Control, Metallurgy and Purchasing to determine methods and pricing for unusual or new orders. Responsible for negotiation of price, delivery and other items with the customer and/or the outside sales representative. Follow up with customers to gather information on inquiries prior to quoting and to determine customer’s status with quote. Work with outside sales representatives to follow up on outstanding quotations, to develop forging product applications and to build customer relationships. Makes sales calls to current and potential customers to promote products and assist with problem resolution. Assist in the collection of delinquent accounts and research competitor’s capabilities, and recommend product or method changes to enhance competitiveness. Skills, Experience, Education Requirement: Sucessful candidate will have prior technical sales experience with forgings (or other heavy industry steel products). Must be comfortable working with material specifications; steel processing, blueprint reading and proficient with Microsoft Office. Education should be equivalent to Baccalaureate Degree or accredited apprenticeship. Bilingual a plus.
Candidates with no prior technical sales experience with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a materials technical concentration will be considered for estimatng and sales position.

Must be able to perform duties to set up, operate machines, and edit programs. Prior to loading part, identify forgings and verify blueprint and dimensions. Examine material visually for flaws and defects. Monitor first piece run when using edited or new program to ensure safe run conditions and quality specifications. Use mathematics together with the analytical use of complicated blueprints. Previous knowledge of machining operations is required. Need to be able to select, load and backplot existing programs to ensure safe and productive machining - edit if necessary. You would be responsible for your own set-ups, install tools and fixtures. Be able to load material into machine with overhead crane using the proper lifting techniques. You should have experience with the following equipment: tape measures, cranes, calipers, diameter tapes, micrometers, PC (computers) and common hand tools. We would like individuals to work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere. Fork Truck Repair

The Fork Truck Repair Department has a preventative maintenance position available in their fork truck repair and rebuild department. Candidate must have 3-4 years mechanical experience and be able to perform duties to service and repair forklifts trucks and company vehicles. Need an individual that can weld and fabricated as directed. Trouble shoot and repair breakdowns throughout the shift to keep production flowing. Experience with electronics and hydraulic diagnostics equipment, pneumatic hand tools, gas and electric equipment, hoists, overhead cranes, floor jack, forklifts, computers and a variety of hand tools would be helpful. We are currently seeking Level II/NDT inspectors for the Quality Department in Spring Grove, IL plant. Successful candidate will be able to perform ultrasonic, contact & immersion inspection of metal forgings of various shapes and alloys. Other duties of the position include; magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection, checking final hardness & dimensional inspection of forgings, and operation of Spectro Analysis Unit to verify chemistry of forgings. Must have a minimum 1 year experience in contact ultrasonic inspection, SNT-TC-1A Level II or equivalent certification in contact ultrasonic inspection is preferred.
