Scot Forge Increases Capabilities in Forged Hollow Production
Scot Forge, a leader in open die and rolled ring forging,
has increased its capabilities to manufacture forged hollows
answering a broader range of user specifications. With the
addition of its 4,500-ton hydraulic open die press, Scot
Forge now can produce hollows in diameters up to 70" with
a 2" minimum wall thickness and up to 360" long or 80,000
pounds in weight.
Custom-forged
hollows are available in straight cylindrical shapes as
well as with unlimited variations in O.D./I.D. configurations
including tapers, step downs, dumbbell, and closed end.
Scot Forge manufactures in carbon, alloy, stainless, tool
steel, copper, aluminum, and other ferrous and non-ferrous
alloys.
Using their single component concept, many hollow parts,
such as flanged hollows, can be produced as a single piece
integral forging rather than a multiple-piece weldment-thus
allowing customers to realize improved part properties while
eliminating unnecessary processing operations. A custom-forged
hollow also makes an excellent replacement for pipe, tubing,
or solid bars that must be drilled or trepanned.
