Scot Forge Offers In-House Heat Treating on Forged Parts
Scot Forge, a leader in open die
forging, announces the availability of complete in-house
heat treating capabilities for its forged ring, blank, bar,
spindle, tooled, and hollow forging products. Scot Forge's
ability to accommodate the critical heat treating needs
of its customers, along with other secondary processes such
as machining, makes it truly a "one stop shop"
for forged parts.
>Scot Forge's in-house heat treating
promotes high quality, reliable products, since the same
company that manufactures the forging is also performing
the heat treating. In addition, it promotes fast turnaround
and eliminates the added costs associated with purchasing
from multiple vendors.
The company maintains 28 car bottom,
tip-up, and pit furnaces with capacities to 52' long or
20' in diameter. Quenching equipment includes 55,000,
50,000, 40,000, and two 6,000 gallon quench tanks, with
both polymer and water quenching available for parts up
to 50,000 lbs. The company recently designed and installed
two new furnaces for heat treating rings with diameter
capacities of 17' and 20', featuring a highly efficient
and innovative burner configuration that promotes a circular
convection action. In addition, a new Scot Forge-designed
ring quench tank heat treats rings up to 20' diameter.
While Scot Forge's heat treating facilities are primarily
maintained for use on in-house forged products, limited
commercial services are also available.
